Synopsis

Published in 1943, Le Petit Prins tells the story of a child who travels from his small planet  through the Universe encountering meaningful characters and gaining knowledge.  Told from the perspective of the Aviator, who has just crashed his plane in the desert, the tale is filled with alegory and fabelesque pearls of wisdom.  Prior to meeting the Aviator during his final week on Earth, the Prince has encountered creatures including the Snake and Fox, representative of death and friendship and had numerous encounters with adults which, "hasn't much improved his opinion of them."

In the end the Prince determines, with the help of the Snake, to return to his home in the stars, and to the beloved Rose he left behind.  The Aviator, who survives the desert is gifted with the memory of his friend, now living among the stars.
